Scammers are sending emails that use our name. They go to businesses whose websites carry a “built by CSM Web Design” credit, claim to have “noticed issues” with the site, and come from a free address such as sales.csmwebdesign@gmail.com. They are not from us.
How to tell the real thing
- We only ever email from an address ending @csmwebdesign.com, never Gmail, Outlook.com or any other free service.
- We never send vague warnings about “performance issues” or “mobile functionality”. If we’ve found something on your site, we’ll name it, and you’ll already know us.
- We never ask for logins, passwords or payment by email.
What one looks like
This one was received by a client on 31 October 2026:
From: chris moss <sales.csmwebdesign@gmail.com>
Subject: Website Performance and Mobile Functionality Issues“I would like to bring an important matter to your attention. Recently, I have noticed some unusual technical issues and inconsistencies affecting your website’s overall performance, particularly when accessed through mobile devices… Please treat this matter as a priority…”
The tells: a Gmail address, no mention of anything specific on the site, a signature block we’d never use, and a tracking footer from a bulk-mail tool.
If you get one
Don’t reply and don’t click any link in it, including “unsubscribe”. Forward it to hello@csmwebdesign.com so we can report the address. If you’re ever unsure whether an email is from us, ring Chris on 07920 844596. We would much rather you checked.
