Websites for massage therapists: get booked without the booking-app tax

Sole therapists and small wellbeing clinics have different needs from a high-street salon. Here is what a massage therapist website should do, and what it should cost.

If you are a massage, sports or holistic therapist, you are probably paying a booking app a monthly fee, a cut of each booking, or both — and still relying on word of mouth for new clients. A website of your own changes that, and it does not need to be big.

What a therapist’s site has to do

  • Say what you treat and for whom. “Sports massage for runners and cyclists in Corby” is findable; “holistic treatments” is not. Lead with the problems you solve.
  • Show the room and the person. People are choosing someone to be alone in a room with. A warm photograph of you and your treatment space does more than any paragraph.
  • Prices and durations, plainly. 30, 60, 90 minutes, what each costs, what to expect at a first appointment.
  • Book in two taps. Link or embed the booking system you use. If you do not have one, a simple WordPress booking plugin with a calendar and deposits is often enough and costs nothing monthly.
  • Reviews, where the decision is made. Google reviews on the page, next to the book button.
  • Found for your town. A complete Google Business Profile, consistent details and a page for each service you want to be booked for.

What it should not do

Try to be a wellness magazine. Three or four pages done well beat fifteen thin ones. Sliders, stock photos of orchids and “welcome to my website” paragraphs are all things to leave out.

A calm design is a selling point

Sõma Body & Skin Wellness in Poole is a recent example of ours: soft colour, generous space, unhurried typography, one clear “book an appointment” action. The site feels like the treatment, which is the point.

What it costs

A focused therapist site — home, treatments with prices, about, contact, booking link, Business Profile set up — is our Essentials tier at £500, fixed in writing. If you want online booking with deposits, reviews and Instagram feeds and local SEO for your town, it is the Business tier at £1,200. Hosting, updates and backups from £25 a month, month to month, and the site is yours either way.
